Victorian Gothic Black Chiffon Shirt with Puff Sleeves
Tax included. Shipping calculated at checkout
Free shipping from €80 (sale items excluded)
Estimated delivery: 15–20 business days.
Short-sleeved shirt in semi-sheer black chiffon embroidered with paisley motifs, which stand out in relief on the sleeves and across the whole back. What sets it apart is the front panel: a lace bib crossed by horizontal looped cords, in the style of the frogging on a military coat, with a row of round black buttons down the centre.
It is designed as the statement piece of a Victorian outfit: the waist is gathered in and the hem ends in a ruffle, so it works worn over high-waisted long skirts, mermaid skirts or pleated trousers. A black top, body or bra underneath is advisable, because the fabric shows what is worn beneath it. The ruffled velvet skirt, earrings and footwear in the photos are not included: only the shirt is sold.
Key features
- Mandarin collar with opening: the high collar has a lace ruffle along the edge and a teardrop-shaped opening below the throat, joined by a small engraved metal clasp.
- Back lacing: a velvet ribbon lacing crosses the back between two strips of rose lace and lets you cinch the waist; the ribbon ends hang loose.
- Puff sleeves: the short sleeve is gathered at the crown and at the edge, and finishes in a tulle lace ruffle.
- Paisley embroidery: the pattern is not printed but embroidered onto the chiffon, so you can feel it to the touch and it reads black on black.
- Lace trims: strips of guipure lace edge the bib and run down the sides, and the hem has a lace ruffle all the way around the garment.
